Interior

The flagship Takumi and Takumi Plus model’s treatment of the maple wood trim reflects the Japanese aesthetic of Hacho – asymmetrical balance, or intentional unevenness. The woven fabrics’ diverse patterns and yarns respond sensitively to changes in light, and a Japanese stitching technique called Kakenui creates ‘hanging stitching’ seams with spaces between the trim fabrics revealing a glimpse of the material beneath.

Highlighting the ‘Crafted in Japan’ premium cabin design of this flagship Mazda, Takumi and Takumi Plus grade Mazda CX-80s feature white Nappa leather, maple wood trim and Japanese hanging stitching on the light fabric dash panel. The Homura grade contrasts this with a darker cabin ambiance that features a black interior with Nappa leather upholstery and hair-line gunmetal trim finishes.

The Mazda CX-80 features Alexa* in-car voice control of music, air-conditioning, navigation and third-party apps such as Spotify as standard across all models. All cars feature Mazda Connect multimedia system with 12.3-inch central display screen and windscreen projected colour head up display. Wireless QI phone charging is included in the optional Convenience and Driver Assistance Pack and standard on Homura Plus and Takumi Plus models.

The CX-80 range features five model grades: Exclusive-Line, Homura, Homura Plus, Takumi and Takumi Plus. Exclusive-Line models can be fitted with the two optional packs: Comfort Pack and Convenience and Driver Assistance Pack, while Takumi and Homura models can be specified with the later pack. At the top of the range, ‘Plus’ grade cars feature the Convenience and Driver Assistance Pack as standard. They also feature a standard panoramic sunroof, which is optional on Homura and Takumi.

A seven-seat layout with a three-seat bench in row two is standard on all CX-80 models, while a twin captain chairs six-seat layout with easy walk through to row three is a no cost option on Homura and Homura Plus. While a twin captain chair with centre cubby in row two layout is a cost option on Takumi Plus models.

When configured in the standard seven-seat layout, the middle row bench seats in the Mazda CX-80 have a sliding range of 120mm, a seat recline range of 15-33 degrees and one-touch folding for the outer seats to aid access to row three. Shoulder room, headroom, hip point spacing and front to second row couple distance measurements have all increased compared to the Mazda CX-60.

To ensure the Mazda CX-80 delivers the interior space expected of a premium three-row SUV, the wheelbase is 250mm longer than the Mazda CX-60 and its 24mm higher than its smaller sibling. With the third-row seats in place the boot delivers 258 litres of load space including the underfloor storage. Fold the third-row seats and the CX-80 has a 687-litre load space.

Passenger comfort and convenience is a key element of the CX-80’s cabin design with three-zone air conditioning and separate controls for second-row occupants. The second-row also benefits from USB-C charge ports, while the optional Comfort Pack offers heated outer second-row seats. These are standard on all Homura and above models and in the third-row seats, passengers benefit from USB-C charge ports, cup holders and climate vents on all models.
