The Mazda6 is priced from £19,795 OTR for the 2.0-litre 145ps Saloon SE, rising to £25,395 for the 2.0-litre 165ps Tourer SE-L Sport Nav. Diesel variants start at £22,295 for the 2.2-litre 150ps Saloon SE through to £28,795 for the 2.2-litre 175ps Tourer Sport Nav Auto.
Built to feel like an extension of its driver, the Mazda6 brings together the most advanced iteration yet of Mazda’s Sustainable Zoom-Zoom driving and electrifying ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ styling. The combination of highly efficient SKYACTIV technology and the striking KODO design ensures the Mazda6 is perfectly equipped to tackle the competitive CD-segment.
The Mazda6 – now in its third generation – is the first mass-production Mazda model to be equipped with i-ELOOP, the Japanese company’s unique brake energy regeneration system. Fitted as standard to the majority of Mazda6 models sold in the UK, this innovative system can boost economy by up to 10 percent, depending on driving conditions. It’s the most recent ingredient of Mazda’s building-block strategy for uncompromisingly efficient and fun-to-drive vehicles.
i-ELOOP joins the innovative ‘i-stop’ idle-stop system and SKYACTIV powertrains, chassis and body – first introduced on the Mazda CX-5 – and positions the Mazda6 as the benchmark for fuel economy and CO₂ figures. With combined fuel economy as high as 72.4mpg and CO₂ emissions as low as 104g/km – without any sacrifice in performance – the Mazda6 is outstanding.
Mazda’s range of high-efficiency SKYACTIV powertrains in the Mazda6 include two petrol engines and two diesels paired to six-speed automatic or manual transmissions. SKYACTIV-G petrol engines include the 2.0-litre 145ps and the 2.0-litre 165ps both producing 210Nm at 4,000rpm. SKYACTIV-D diesel engines include the 2.2-litre 150ps producing 380Nm at 1,800rpm to 2,600rpm and the 2.2-litre 175ps producing 420Nm at 2,000rpm.
The 150ps SKYACTIV-D engine has been enhanced to boost combined economy and CO₂ emissions – it now posts 72.4mpg and 104g/km, up from 67.3mpg and 108g/km without any sacrifice in performance
Together with SKYACTIV powertrains, the SKYACTIV-Chassis and SKYACTIV-Body make the Mazda6 an engaging and rewarding drive, delivering refined, linear handling, segment-leading safety and a uniquely efficient and lightweight design.
Chassis and body structures are stiffer, benefiting from greater proportions of high and ultra-high tensile steels. The steering and suspension combine low-speed agility with high-speed stability and responsiveness to driver input – at a level of precision unparalleled in the CD-segment. In addition to being quieter and more aerodynamic, the Mazda6 is also a segment leader in terms of safety.
The SKYACTIV-Body offers class-leading impact protection thanks to highly rigid impact-absorbing structures and innovative load paths to disperse energy away from the cabin. To help the driver avoid accidents, the Mazda6 features an impressive array of advanced active safety technologies (depending on model) such as radar-based Rear Vehicle Monitoring, Smart City Brake Support (SCSB) and Lane Departure Warning System. Even when a collision is unavoidable, passive safety technologies work to diminish its severity for occupants and pedestrians – and even the vehicle itself.
The benefits of the sophisticated SCBS have been recognised by the Association of British Insurers, which acknowledges the immense value of autonomous braking systems in boosting safety and reducing the cost of repairs. The Mazda6 SE-L and Sport Nav models, which are fitted with SCBS as standard, enjoy a significant drop in their insurance group rating - up to five groups lower for diesel-powered models and six groups lower for petrol-powered versions than the previous model.
In the interior, form meets function in a highly ergonomic cockpit designed to make driving as enjoyably and engaging as possible. Everything is exactly where it should be: even the repositioned A-pillars, moved rearwards by a full 100mm relative to the previous model, contribute to a stress-free experience by widening the driver’s field of view.
Passengers will appreciate the relaxing atmosphere in the cabin, which features segment-leading passenger space on the Saloon models, accompanied by the latest infotainment technology, including an 11-speaker BOSE® surround sound audio system, available on Sport Nav models.
Specially developed to highlight the features of the Mazda6’s KODO design, Soul Red Metallic is a new body colour, which uses a unique process to deliver unprecedented levels of depth, shading and vividness that accentuate the Mazda6’s stunning form and character lines. Blue Reflex Mica, Meteor Grey Mica and Jet Black Mica also debuted on the Mazda6.
