Grille

The Mazda6’s frontal design is focused around its stylish grille, which has the mesh positioned deep within the surround to create a sophisticated and muscular face. The intricate pattern of the grille is designed to help light bounce off each individual block giving it an attractively bright appearance.

Styling

The Mazda6’s LED headlamps integrate the signature wing tips from the grille surround to underscore their predator style, and with the front fog lights incorporated into the headlight cluster, the lower bumper features a sleek profile and an aerodynamically efficient air intake. Sport models feature a Chrome front bumper garnish, while GT Sport models have a gunmetal front grille.

Paint

The Mazda6 features optional £820 Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint. Thanks to Mazda’s unique three-layer Takuminuri painting technology it increases brightness by approximately 20 per cent and depth by 50 per cent, compared to previous Soul Red Metallic paint.

2.5-litre Skyactiv-G

Mazda’s 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine made its UK debut in the Mazda6. With a cylinder deactivation system, this 194ps direct-injection four-cylinder engine seamlessly switches between four and two-cylinder operation to improve real-world fuel economy at no cost to performance. It’s matched exclusively to the Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic gearbox in both Saloon and Tourer models.

Aerodynamics

The Mazda6 is as sleek and aerodynamic as it looks, with the Saloon and Tourer posting drag coefficients of 0.26 and 0.28, respectively. The wing mirrors - mounted on the door shoulders – play a key role in achieving the car’s aerodynamic performance.

Rear styling

With the goal of giving the car a wide stance and a cleaner look, the Mazda6’s rear bumper features paint coloured surfacing, while the exhaust pipes are spaced apart.  In addition, on the Saloon the rear light clusters feature illumination that’s simplified toward a horizontal direction to align with the boot lid.

Refinement

Thanks to thick floor and rear wheel housing noise insulation panels, plus body reinforcement in places where vibration can penetrate the cabin, the Mazda6 majors on class-leading refinement. Vibration absorbing material in the centre tunnel and the roof lining also contributes to refinement.
