Mazda’s new all-electric SUV has a Human Machine Interface (HMI) concept created to deliver a seamless bond between driver and car, placing safety and convenience at the forefront.
With a wide range of personalisation and settings to play with, owners will find themselves tailoring their CX-6e to their preferences as they live with the car. The HMI experience is centred on the ultra-wide 26.45 -inch touchscreen with a customisable split layout for driver and passenger. Its 32:9 format, 5K presentation, anti-glare aluminium-silicon coating and rapid response is designed for clear operation in varied lighting.
Crucially, speed, navigation and key drive information is displayed on the head-up display placing the most important data in the driver’s direct forward view, while the fixed buttons and two programmable favourites buttons on the steering wheel allow for key functions needed by the driver to be accessed without using the touchscreen.
Further examples of HMI focused on avoiding driver distraction include voice recognition that can adjust climate, audio, phone and key functions after the ‘hey Mazda’ voice prompt. On top of this, there’s also gesture control, which allows selected navigation, audio and in-car camera functions to be activated via hand actions. As you’d expect, the Mazda CX-6e also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with touchscreen control via the centre screen or via their respective in app voice control functionality.
Daily connectivity expediency is helped by the Mazda6e/Mazda CX-6e App, which enables remote temperature control, charging management and Bluetooth remote key sharing with up to three users. Set the car to charge at the time you want for energy cost management, pre-heat or pre-cool and monitor charge status – the Mazda CX-6e App delivers remote access to your car for maximum convenience.
From inside the spacious, calm and comfortable CX-6e interior, the 26.45-inch touchscreen sits at the heart of the cabin. With pull down sub menus it allows control of all vehicle settings, apps, entertainment and communication functions, plus the seamlessly integrated navigation benefits from super clear resolution mapping with public EV charging location functionality for route and charge planning.
The central touchscreen also allows you to activate four vehicle modes: Pet Comfort Mode maintains cabin temperature and displays a message on the screen to let people know the pet is safe and comfortable. Rest Mode prepares the cabin for longer stop such as charging by laying down seats, playing relaxing sounds and displaying a calming image on the screen. Relax Mode also adjusts the seats, climate, windows, audio and lighting for a shorter break. Wash Mode closes windows, folds mirrors and disables auto wipers in preparation for a car wash.
For lifestyle practicality the CX-6e also ensures you have the power you need for your devices with a 50w air-cooled wireless smartphone charging tray, plus two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and 12v socket in the cabin. And further extending its everyday versatility, the CX-6e is Vehicle to Load (V2L) capable. When fitted with the official V2L adaptor the high-voltage battery can supply up to 3.5kw of power allowing you to operate electrical equipment directly from the car. From charging laptops, powering camping equipment, charging e-bikes or bringing a coffee machine along for the journey, the Mazda CX-6e becomes a convenient mobile power bank.
