The Mazda CX-6e brings a bold, progressive expression of Kodo Soul of Motion to Mazda’s electric line-up. Developed through close collaboration between Mazda’s European, Japanese and Chinese teams, its ‘Soulful Futuristic Modern’ theme combines sculptural elegance, athletic proportions and technical precision.

Designed to elevate Mazda’s Kodo Soul of Motion design philosophy into the next generation of electrified vehicles, its concept reflects the intersection of cutting-edge technology and sculptural sophistication. This new look is the result of enhanced co-operation between European and Japanese design studios, with the European design team playing a significantly more influential role than in previous projects.

From first sight the CX-6e features Mazda’s familiar signature wing grille surround design, but uniquely for CX-6e, it is illuminated with a sequenced light show when locking, unlocking and charging, during which even the Mazda badge lights up. Beyond the signature wing the cleanly chiselled front end features aerodynamic vents that visualise the smooth airflow over the grille and across the sculpted bonnet.

This aero approach to the design continues with the air ducts in the floating D-pillars, which channel airflow below them to exit alongside the rear screen above the slender taillights. On Takumi Plus models this is complemented by the slim digital cameras that further contribute to aerodynamic performance and reduced wind noise compared to traditional door mirrors.

With powerful shoulder lines, pronounced wheels arches and sculpted flanks that have been contoured to catch and reflect light, the CX-6e’s form creates the impression of tension, even when stationary. While from the rear, the slim-line rear lights also infuse the car’s stance with the impression of motion and tension.

The long 2,902mm wheelbase and short overhangs further enhance the poised stance and sleek silhouette of the CX-6e, which visually delivers a far sportier look than most similarly sized SUV rivals. Both the Takumi and Takumi Plus models feature alloy wheel designs that complement the dynamic exterior look of the car: Takumi Plus cars feature 21-inch black machined alloy wheels, which can also be optioned onto the Takumi. Standard wheels on the Takumi are an attractive 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels with a sleek aero black machined design.

Seven exterior colours highlight the body’s flowing surfaces with a colour palette choice that includes Air Stream Blue, Crystal White Pearl, Jet Black, Aero Grey, Machine Grey and Soul Red Crystal. A new colour launching on the CX-6e is Nightfall Violet, which shifts from a lustrous purple to near-black in changing light. All colours, except Jet Black, are amplified by the contrasting black floating roof and black A-pillars, which help to visually lower the car, further enhancing its sleek stance, while the gloss black wheelarch surrounds flow into the sharp lower trim that features the Mazda wordmark spaced along the flanks.

Commenting on the design of Mazda CX-6e, Jo Stenuit, Design Director, Mazda Motor Europe, said: “with the Mazda CX-6e, our aim was to create a design that feels soulful and human, even in the age of electrification. My team explored bold proportions and clean surfaces to express strength and innovation, while integrating advanced materials and details that signal a new era for Mazda. Every curve and proportion reflects elegance and emotional depth”.
