The cabin theme choice in Takumi models is Stone Maztex or Black Maztex, while Takumi Plus features a multi-tone Amethyst and White Maztex finish. Maztex is Mazda’s alternative to leather that is developed to be easy to clean and designed for comfort. Japanese soul is on display throughout the inviting interior with tactile touchpoints, quality surfaces and high-quality finishes. The sense of space is enhanced by the illuminated wing-shaped strip that runs across the width of the dashboard on Takumi Plus models, while on both grades the full-length glass roof floods the cabin with natural light.
In contrast to the sporty nature of the Mazda CX-6e’s exterior, the sleek profile disguises a spacious and practical cabin that offers generous head, leg and shoulder room for all occupants. Front and rear headroom measures 1,013mm and 994mm respectively, while shoulder room at the front and rear comes in at 1,481mm and 1,432mm. The scalloped backs of the front seats have been optimised to maximise rear leg room and there’s 150mm clearance below the seats for the rear passenger’s feet.
This means there’s 990mm of rear leg room and 122mm of knee clearance delivering a lot of space for rear passengers. The sculpted front seats add a touch of style to the cabin too, thanks to their tapered design, while the Mazda wordmark features on the front of the seat in stylish trim below the integrated headrest. It’s also embossed on the rear of the front seats above the storage pockets.
Rear passengers get their own digital display to control rear air conditioning and the roof blind, plus on Takumi Plus models this extends to control of the additional functions of heated and ventilated rear outer seats. On both models the full-length panoramic roof ensures an airy feel for rear passengers and the advanced heat-reflective laminated glass has a 99.7 per cent ultra-violet isolation rate to ensure that occupants are protected from harmful sun rays, while the one-touch sunshade rolls out to cover the glass when preferred.
Ambient lighting brings even more atmosphere to the CX-6e’s cabin with more than 256 colours to choose from and with Takumi Plus models it’s even more evident thanks to the standard translucent styling bar strip that runs the full length of the dash below the air vents and under the central screen.
When it comes to audio the Mazda CX-6e is equipped with a 23-speaker surround system that delivers an immersive listening experience for every occupant. The system delivers exceptional depth, lucidity and balance bringing music, podcasts and phone calls to life with clarity. Two speakers are integrated into the front headrests for a more personalised audio experience.
As you’d expect from Mazda, driver comfort is a strong point with a wide range of manual reach and rake adjustment on the steering combined with driver’s seat powered slide, recline, height and lumber adjustment, alongside memory functionality for extra convenience. Both front seats feature heating and ventilation, while a heated steering wheel is standard on both models as well.
Driver visibility through the screen and side windows is good, while a 360-degree camera with see-through view delivers complete sight of your surroundings and can be easily activated by a button on the wheel. Takumi Plus models feature a digital camera system rather than conventional door mirrors, with the large view screens located in the natural line of sight in the door trim below the side windows.
Luggage space is another plus with a 468-litre boot that expands to 1,434 litres with the seats folded and combines a low load lip with a practical shaped opening. An additional 80-litre front storage area adds more space and is ideal for smaller bags and charging cables.
